beef-fat-for-anti-aging-creams

Tallow, or rendered beef or mutton fat is a very popular ingredient in cooking. You can grease the pan with it to add that meaty flavor to your meal, or you can straight up slice some spiced tallow and have it with a side of bread and wine. So what’s our beef with this organic ingredient? Well, it seems the cows have been led astray and have ventured into pastures where skincare and anti-aging creams are being formulated.

The beauty industry has suddenly woken up to the potential of tallow as an organic wrinkle-lift ingredient, now that brand Fat Face has rolled out their Myrrhaculous Face Cream.

It Matters If The Cow Has Been Raised Right
Propagators of the ingredient suggest that the true potential of the tallow lies in the breeding of the animal. A happy cow—one that is bred on a pasture—has high levels of omega 3, and vitamins A, C, D and E. Although, we’re guessing it’s not going to be too happy once it’s been torn for parts to be packaged into your beauty lotion.

What’s more, it is loaded with stearic and conjugated linoleic acids that are packed with nutrients which help repair damage, regenerate cells and hydrate the skin. Tallow-infused products are ideal for those with dry skin. They possess saturated and monounsaturated fats that fill in aging lines and help firm up the skin because they are easily absorbed by the pores.

And,  to be fair, the ingredient is organic and the product does not have sodium lauryl sulfate foaming agent, chemical triclosan (an antibacterial), or titanium dioxide-dye.

As for the stink of the animal fat, it’s masked by the supplementary ingredients that are used to formulate the balms, creams, moisturizers, and deodorants.

Either way, would it really be the worst if you smelled like a juicy piece of steak? Didn’t think so!
