Don’t Let Your Haircare Routine Fall Short This Season

What's more, this exercise will also keep dandruff at bay and lend your mane a glossy shine. Apply a nourishing hair mask every week to seal in the nutrients and maintain the moisture levels in your hair and scalp. Cut open 1 ripe avocado (length-wise) and discard the pit. Scoop out the flesh and beat it to a pulp until smooth. Now, add in 1/2 cup honey and mix together. Apply the mix to dry hair and wrap a towel around your head to seal it all in. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes before you rinse, and follow up with a gentle shampoo. Vitamins B and E from avocados will nourish the scalp, improve hair growth and prevent hair loss.

What you need is a detox plan and clarifying shampoo is the way to go about it. Clarifying shampoos have a high surfactant-to-water ratio, which helps deep clean your hair. This type of shampoo essentially strips your hair of all the remaining oil and build-up, which is why, if you have excessively dry hair, you need to first try it out and see if it works for you. The shampoo mainly concentrates on removing grease; not on conditioning. Here's how to use it for best results. Make note that this is a great way to kick-start your haircare routine. Using a clarifying shampoo just the one time at the start of the season is quite enough.

    Switch Products: Read the label on your shampoo and conditioner. If your hair and scalp is already dry, then you must eliminate any products that are alcohol-based. Also look out for ingredients such as sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, diethanolamine (DEA), triethanolamine (TEA), methyl, propyl, butyl, ethyl, diazolidinyl urea and imidazolidinyl urea. Make the swap by opting for natural alternates, or opt for haircare solutions that are oil-based—argan oil, borage oil, mythic oil, etc.
