Kim-Kardashian's-Shocking-Hair-Revelation,-Will-You-Try-It-Too_185454464

If you’re a stickler for hygiene, not washing your hair every alternate day would make you feel real uneasy. It just so happens, the queen of the Kardashian clan, Kim, indulges in the ritual just once in five days. Yes, you better believe it!.

She told IntoTheGloss.com, “For my hair, I don’t wash it every day. We start with a blowout on day one, then we go into a messier vibe the next day, and then we flat iron it and do a really sleek look on day three since that requires a little oil in the hair. Day four could be a slicked-back ponytail, and on the fifth day is when you wash it. That’s a little excessive, maybe.”

Germaphobe or not, that right there is enough to make anyone cringe, unless you’ve had weaves, dreadlocks or a tight-perm most of your life.

Analyze That
From the non-judgmental and just plain vanity point of view too, poor hair hygiene can be a breeding ground for bacteria, resulting in problems like dandruff and extensive hair loss. Make note that this habit is definitely not the same as the previously popular ‘no-poo’ movement, where you stop using shampoo and opt for natural, homemade shampoos instead.

But, in Kim’s defense, even industry experts suggest that if you have normal to dry hair, you can put off washing it until the fifth day. For those who do spot dandruff on their mane, it may be time to step-up the routine and get more frequent with your washes.

Also, like Kim if you have psoriasis, you will be advised not to wash your hair often and to use a shampoo without silicone.

If your hair is of finer texture, washing it every alternate day  is advisable in order to avoid oil build-up. But, the key is to wash it at scalp level; this way you won’t dry out your strands and ends.

Environment is also a factor. If the climate is hot and humid and you’ve been out and about, you should wash your hair more often.

On an end note, the habit of washing your hair is subjective. You can go the no-poo way or wash your hair every five days, the basic point to it all is hygiene. Clean hair and scalp equate to healthy growth with a lustrous shine, so make the right choices.
