Baby Got Back, the hit single by Sir Mix A Lot could be dedicated to Iggy, JLo, Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian, and all the lovely ladies out there, who’ve got some junk in their trunk.
Unfortunately, not all of us are quite as blessed when it comes to our rear-end, but the idea is to work with the curves you’ve got, toning and shaping them to sit proportionately with the rest of your body. Here’s how you can make the most of that booty:
Squats: Besides strengthening your glutes, squats work your hamstrings, quads and hips too. They also improve your balance and coordination, and contribute to your bone density. Here’s how to do the perfect squat, but you can intensify it with jumping squats, or you can weigh yourself down by carrying dumbbells in straight arms while you do them.
Lunges: This simple exercise is a great way of working out core muscles, strengthening leg muscles, improving flexibility, and most importantly, toning and shaping the butt. Get the right form of doing lunges to shape your glutes.
Sun Salutation, Or Surya Namaskar: It is without a doubt a full-body exercise, but sun salutations are also an excellent way to tighten that booty by engaging your core. This asana is a cyclical transition of yoga postures, and is a great way to even out your body proportions, particularly your waist-to-hip ratio. Here’s a step-by-step of the exercise.
After a month of this little exercise routine, you’ll be looking over your shoulder and clicking belfies too.
