Do-the-ellie-goulding's-spring-break-workout

If you can foresee pool parties, string bikinis, lying around on the beach and sun bathing in the near future, it must mean that Spring Break is just around the corner. Keeping that in mind, celebrity trainer Derek DeGrazio has devised a simple, but effective exercise routine that will workout all your muscles, but most importantly, give you the flat abs and toned butt that you desire for swimsuit season. Here’s how you can get on the program:

Squats: This is not just a basic squat; it is a selfie squat. Holding the phone in your hands, stand with your legs shoulder-width apart and slowly bend your knees so that your thighs are parallel to the ground. Take a selfie in this position.

Do the squats for 60 seconds without the selfie, but take one at the end of every minute. Workout pictures serve as inspiration to keep you going, so nothing like getting a quick reality check with a snapshot while you exercise, right? Needless to say, your booty will forever be thankful, and you can go embrace the celebrity trend of Instagramming workout selfies every other day.

T-Planks

Planks: Stay in plank position for 60 seconds to tighten the core muscles; do as many reps as you can. Planks work not only your biceps, but your deltoids, triceps, lats and abs too. It really is the best full-body toning exercise there is.

Bicycle Kicks: Work the abdominal muscles with bicycle kicks. Lie on your back, hands behind your head, and bring your right elbow up to touch your left knee. But, keep the right leg straight. Do bicycle kicks for 60 seconds, relax for 10 seconds (2 reps).

For an intense workout to flatten the abs, do one set of planks and then one set of bicycle kicks. Alternate three times (three sets).

Interval Training: This is one of the best ways to instantly increase your heart rate to boost your metabolism. Since you are already at the beach, do a sequence of running for 30 seconds and jogging for 60 seconds; 10 minutes of sprinting and jogging against the sand will cut back the calories in no time.

DeGrazio’s full-body workout incorporates cardio and strength training in a set routine to maximize your results, while minimizing your effort.
