Everyone hates legs day, particularly because there’s really no sweet spot where you can just lie around and catch a break. If you’re working out your legs, you’re upright and vertical, either making a run for it or holding your whole body weight up in one way or another.
But, what if you’re having one of those days where you just want to veg out? Well, we tap into the easiest leg workouts for a lazy day. Even if you are able to muster half the enthusiasm, you can still nail these moves, so let’s get to it:
Inner Thigh Lifts: If you’re just chilling in front of the TV, lie on your side with your head resting on your hand. Keep your bottom leg straight out, and cross the top leg so that it is resting over your knee. Then, lift your bottom leg as high as you can and lower it back down. Do 15 reps on each side. Don’t worry, you don’t have to face away from the TV, just flip to the other side and do another set. Make note: Do not move your upper body, only the legs should do the work, but you can lift from the core.
Knee Tucks: If you’re on a chair, sit on the edge and hold the sides to help you get your feet off the ground. Stretch out your legs so that your feel the tension (weight) on your heels. Then, slowly raise your legs and bring them towards your chest and hold for two seconds; get back to starting position. Knee tucks don’t just exercise your leg muscles, they also work your core. Do 20-30 reps.
Climbing Stairs: Now, we know this doesn’t exactly scream lazy workout, but all we’re saying is that if you do find yourself taking the stairs at some point during the day, just do the alternate step up, even if you go slow. The most primitive form of fitness, walking up the stairs makes for great cardio and strength training, simultaneously. So, should the opportunity present itself, give it a go if you’re up to it.
Make note that while they look extremely simple, these exercises work your glutes, hamstrings, calves, quadriceps and tibialis anteriors (basically, all your leg muscles!). You don’t have to break a leg; maybe just shake one a bit.
