No we’re not talking about Clark Kent and his many alter-egos from the movies, but the perfect mat exercise to work your lower back, booty and core muscles. The trick is in the technique; once you understand the breakdown of the exercise, it is one of the easiest moves at the gym. This does not take away from the fact that the Superman is also great for weight loss and toning. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Lie face down with your hands extended straight above you, and your legs stretched out. Your palms should face the floor and your toes should be planted on the ground.

Step 2: Slowly and simultaneously, lift your chest and legs off the ground using your lower back and core muscles. Keep your limbs extended without locking your joints and your mid-riff stable and resting on the ground. Hold the pose for five seconds. Release and do the next rep.

One can easily do three sets of 10 reps each of the Superman. It’s a great stretching and toning exercise, and puts very little pressure on your body.
