Fight Against Obesity With Fish Oil & A Low-Calorie Diet

We’ve always known of the many benefits of omega-3 fatty acids for great hair and skin. A new study suggests that it can work wonders for your weight too, which comes as no surprise considering fish has been a long-standing recommendation for every weight watcher’s diet.

Club the fish oil with a calorie restricted diet and meal replacement, and you will have the upper hand over metabolic syndrome. David Heber, chairman of the Herbalife Nutrition Institute and the Nutrition Advisory Board, said, “Metabolic syndrome, which is characterized by increase in waist circumference, fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure, increases the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Among Asians, this condition is increasingly common even at normal body weights.”

The study, which was conducted by the company in conjunction with Taipei Medical University suggests that the participants lost, on average, 4.5kg in weight and 6.5cm in waist circumference, over the 12-week period that their diet was modified.

In fact, they even registered a 2.5 percent reduction in body fat percentage, and had a balancing effect on fasting blood glucose level, the triglyceride level, and the low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDLc) level.

The results which were published in the Journal of Functional Foods and the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition make a great case for an alternate diet that can help tackle the obesity epidemic that is plaguing Asia and America.
