Weight-Loss-Tips-That-You-Should-Ditch-_228298228

So you’ve heard a lot of talk about juice cleanses for weight loss and now you want to give it a go. But before you do, there are a few things you need to keep in mind, despite the health benefits that come with the territory.

Juice fasts require you to consume nothing but the freshest fruit and vegetables for the duration of the cleanse, all in liquid form. Now, you’re bound to shed some weight, though how much you lose all depends on your lifestyle and diet prior to your juice fast.

Let’s elaborate. A juice fast means you’re consuming around 900 calories a day. If you’re used to a high calorie diet, say 2,000-2,500 calories per day, you’re cutting approximately 1,100-1,400 calories. And assuming we’re doing the math correctly, burning 3,500 calories makes you lose one pound. By that calculation, you’ll probably lose a pound every three days or so.

Now we know that the math seems pretty damn good, but before you go on your juice cleanse, remember the following:

How About A Quickie?
A cleanse is simply meant to kick-start your diet in a balanced manner, without leaving you exhausted and ravenously hungry. Steer clear of any juice cleanse that lasts longer than a week. Keep it quick. Besides, you know what they say about having too much of a good thing, don’t you?

A Burst Of Nutrients
Yes, everyone knows that fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins, healthy fiber and nutrients that we don’t get on a regular basis. However, with juicing one has to remove the skin and seeds, or parts where these essential nutrients are concentrated. That’s why when you’re on a juice cleanse, make sure you get a good amount of vitamins and minerals through additional supplements.

Keep It Real
A short juice cleanse every two or three months is a good way to jump-start your metabolism and get a healthy weight loss regime rolling, but as we’ve mentioned earlier, it is not nutritionally sound in the long run.

Now that we’ve done the ground work, here are a few nutrition-packed recipes to kick-start your juicy new cleanse.
