Add another to the growing list of apps you never thought you’d see—a Tinder for fitness trainers. If you live in Houston, you’ll get the first taste after the New Year.
TRN-On Demand will become available in Texas this January, as it seeks to connect gym-goers with personal trainers in the easiest, quickest way possible.
It’s simple, all you have to do is punch your availability into the app, specify how much money you’re willing to spend on a session, and who you want to work with. Send a request and boom—you’ve got a personal trainer at your doorstep within the hour.

The creators aim to eliminate the excuses that come along with getting in shape, such as intimidating gym environments, and the time crunch of getting to a gym. William Lockley, one of the owners of the app, said in an interview published by Click2Houston, “The biggest thing is people always say I don’t have time…we are moving that excuse out of the equation.”
The model they use, Lockley says, is an “on-demand” system of personal training. Like a dating app, it connects you with trainers in your area. You download it, set your zip code, choose your trainer (or specialists like swim coaches and yoga instructors), set your availability, location and price range, and the app spits out a list of trainers that suit your criteria.

Of course, personal trainers don’t come cheap. Prices range from $60 to $120 per session. But, Lockley added in his interview, there’s no gym membership to tack on, and, with TRN-On Demand’s local-sourcing tech, there’s always the possibility you could find a discount.
Lockley also added that there is no need to be concerned about your safety. TRN does extensive background checks, and you can always choose to do your sessions in a public place like a park.
The app will be available in Houston beginning in January, but the sky's the limit for this potentially fitness-changing service.
