In the trinity of classic superheroes, Wonder Woman stands right alongside Batman and Superman. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,
actress Gal Gadot looks just as much the superhero as the boys. While we've already taken you through Henry Cavill's muscle-building workout
, it took a lot for Gadot to fit into Wonder Woman's shoes. And what a great job she's done with it. Wonder Woman is now set to topline her very own standalone superhero movie -- the first one to star a female superhero in over a decade -- slated to release in 2017. So, are you ready for Wonder Woman?
Gal Gadot On Wonder Woman
Originally a runway model, Gadot trained hard for the role she believes can have a positive influence. In a chat with Interview
magazine she says, "I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There's a lot of responsibility."
Gadot Is A Military Girl
Gal Gadot's upbringing and Israeli Defense Force training steered her towards a disciplined life and heightened fitness level right from the beginning. She recalls her experience from the time she was a gym trainer for the troops. "So my bootcamp was longer than other bootcamps. It was four months and all about sports, waking up at 6:30 am and going for a run, doing push-ups..."
Even as a child, Gadot was always inclined towards sports and fitness. "I always played ball outside in the backyard. I was a dancer for 12 years. I did tennis, basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, you name it. I was such a tomboy," she adds.
Her two years of military service laid the foundation for breathing life into the role of a superhero. "It gives you values, like giving something of yourself, your time, your energy. It gives you good discipline, because it's not about you; it's about the system. And it's not easy, either [laughs]. You don't have your freedom and you can't go and do what you want to do."
The Wonder Woman Workout
Given that she already had a strong fitness foundation, Gadot was assigned a tougher workout routine that would challenge her increased levels of endurance. "I workout a lot now with Wonder Woman. I can't say too much about my training regime but we do workout a lot—we do a lot of different martial arts. But, in my ordinary life when I don't work, I like to paddleboard and do TRX," she disclosed to Harper's Bazaar
PS: The girl's also a rock climber -- how cool is that?!
The Meal Plan
You'd think the girl basically lives on a high protein diet, but she's as normal as the rest of us. "I'm a foodie and I love to experience food, but at the same time I look at food as fuel and I want to give the best to my body. So, of course I have my bad things that I eat like burgers or ice cream with chocolate. I don't restrict myself, I can eat everything. It's all a matter of measurements and quantity of the food; just enjoy your food and don't eat while you drive, and don't eat when you talk on the phone. Just give the food the respect and give yourself the respect to enjoy it," she told Bazaar
The results are plain to see. Catch Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman:Dawn of Justice,
releasing on March 25th. She will also be part of the 2017 Justice League
flick and have her own namesake movie next year.
