Smoothies may have lost some of their lipsmacking luster since they officially entered the foodie lexicon. The word immediately conjures up the usual stawberry, banana and plain yogurt or green juice varieties. They're all good and good for you, don't get us wrong, but here at Z Living we're ready to turn things up a notch. Actually, we're ready to put smoothies on blast. Welcome to Smoothie Saturday! To kick things off we have a delicious blended elixir that is a frothy version of a favorite tasty treat. How would a blueberry muffin smoothie suit you?  If your tastebuds are ready, we've got a magic recipe for you and the secret ingriedient in is oats. Ingredients:


1/2 cup old-fashioned oats

1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries

1 cup vanilla yogurt

1/2 cup milk

1 tablespoon honey

1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

 

Tips, Tricks, & Accessories:


For an extra added smoothness, blend oats into a fine powder. You may use nonfat, lowfat, or regular vanilla yogurt. You may use whole milk, 2%, skim milk, almond milk, or your favorite type of milk. You can experiment with substituting different kinds of fruit.
