Being a coffee lover, you’re probably having a cup, several times a day. While you’re looking for that caffeine kick, don’t disregard the heaps of sugar you consume with each cup. If bitter and black is not your thing, go ahead and flavor your coffee by all means. And you don’t need to turn to sugar either. Here are a few healthier ways to enjoy your joe:
1. Cinnamon: A dash of cinnamon will give your coffee a warm, earthy flavor. Cinnamon also happens to be a healthy spice with many benefits, including a reduced risk of heart disease, and optimized blood sugar levels.
2. Cardamom: This spice is commonly added to coffee in the Middle East. Doing so gives your brew an exotic, aromatic touch. Sprinkle some ground spice into your cup, or simply add a few cardamom seeds to your beans before grinding them.
3. Vanilla Extract: Adding a few drops of pure vanilla extract to your coffee will give it a sweetish flavor. You can also try almond extract for a mild, yet delicious taste.
4. Cocoa: It is loaded with antioxidants that provide a bunch of health benefits, such as boosting heart health. Blend in a little organic unsweetened cocoa to your brew, for a burst of flavor and nutrition.
