by Z Living Gal
We got wind that Evette Rios, the fabulous host of Recipe Rehab on Z Living, was making an appearance on The Today Show this morning to talk about outdoor entertaining this Memorial Day weekend. Thankfully we tuned in to get all of Rios' great ideas on how to make this holiday fun and mess-free.

Check out the clip below from her appearance.

We got inspired and couldn't help but browse her blog for more Memorial Day outdoor entertaining hacks. Rios, a vibrant and fun New York native, is a lifestyle guru with a love for good eats plus smart, economical and easy (peasy) home ideas.

She's got great advice on summer cookouts plus tons of tips that provide the perfect inspiration for Memorial Day Weekend! Whether you're throwing a backyard barbecue, pool party, picnic or just hanging with the fam, here are some of our favorites hacks for turning your holiday gathering into something special... without breaking the bank.

Evette Rios's 4 Easy Peasy Summer Cookout Hacks

  1. Minimize orphaned drinks by sticking labels on glasses and writing guests’ names on them. I like to use regular old rubber bands and write guests names on them with permanent marker.
  2. Use colorful pots from a cheap home improvement store to put utensils in, they will give a pop of color and really bring the spring/summer theme home. A loaf pan is the perfect size for stacked hamburger bunsEvette-Rios
  3. Use what you have. An upside down wire-mesh strainer keeps bugs away from fruits and vegetables and a terra-cotta pot lined with napkins makes a handy serving bowl for potato chips. Or stamp the pots with your guests initials and use them as containers for giveaways.
  4. Give guests a little packet of seeds. This will give everyone in the mood to do some spring gardening.

Tune in to Recipe Rehab, where two chefs face off  to give one family's cardiac-arresting recipe a healthy, low calorie spin. It airs on Z Living Mondays at 8pm EST and 8pm PST.
