Fruits are a great eating option for those trying to lose weight, as well as those who crave the occasional sweet fix. But did you know that certain fruits are better than the others?
Watermelon, apples, mangoes and pears in particular, can lead to bloating. That’s because they have a high ratio of fructose-to-glucose, both of which are sugars that occur naturally in fruit. This can cause gas and bloating in one of out every three people, who is unable to digest the excess fructose effectively. But it doesn’t take away from their health benefits.
Kate Scarlata, a Boston-based dietitian and author, says that if you have trouble digesting fructose, opt for fruits such as bananas and blueberries, which have a more balanced fructose-to-glucose ratio.
