You wouldn’t be enjoying your icy lollies if it wasn’t for a simple accident by 11-year-old Frank Epperson. Back in 1905, he left a glass of powdered soda and water with a mixing stick in it on his porch. It stayed there all through the cold winter night. He woke up to an icy treat the next morning. Fascinated by this accidental creation, he named it ‘epsicle’ after his own surname. Years later, his kids started calling it pop’s-sicles, a name that stuck on. Finally in 1923, Epperson applied for a patent for it and named it Popsicle. Popsicles are easy to make, as the 11-year old proved. Try this yummy Roasted Strawberry, Coconut & Lime Popsicle today.
