RECIPE: Easy, Organic DIY Blueberry & Peach Gummy Bears

by Lauren Arps
Instead of buying highly-processed candy, why not whip up your own?

These cute blueberry- and peach-flavored gummies are healthy (really!). They're made with fresh organic fruit and no refined sugar, and take less than 5 minutes to prepare and 30 minutes to set. All you'll need to create them, beyond the ingredients, is this gummy bear mold. Pack a few bears for a mid-day snack (just keep them refrigerated or cool) to satisfy your tastebuds until dinner.

Blueberries and peaches are an excellent source of vitamin C, soluble fiber, and insoluble fiber, and blueberries are also an excellent source of flavonoids, a key antioxidant for your body. Feel free to experiment with other healthy fruit, too!

Blueberry Gummy Bears Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (pureed)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin (1 pack)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 gummy bear mold (this one includes a tiny dropper that make it so easy to add the mixture to the mold!)

Peach Gummy Bears Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 very ripe peach (skinned and pureed)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon gelatin (1 pack)
Directions

To be done separately for both flavors:
  1. Add all of the ingredients except the gelatin to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  2. Gradually add the gelatin powder to puree while whisking consistently until the gelatin is completely melted. TIP: The texture will change from grainy to thick and smooth when the gelatine is melted.
  3. Add mixture to your gummy bear mold and put it in the freezer for 25-30 minutes. Remove, and enjoy!
There is nothing more satisfying than a candy that is good for you!
