Pass 'Z' Pasta: Watch Chef Jeff's Turkey Lasagna Recipe

But if made with healthy ingredients in mind, lasagna can be a nourishing meal for your family and friends. This lasagna recipe from Flip My Food with Chef Jeff is going to transform your pasta pallet. Made with ground turkey meat, garden veggies, yummy cheeses, and fresh herbs and seasonings, this lasagna will have you coming back for second servings.

Try This Flipped Turkey Lasagna Recipe


  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 links sweet Italian chicken sausage, sliced then halved
  • 1 pound lasagna sheets, cooked
  • ⅓ cup chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup small diced white onion
  • ½ cup small diced carrot
  • ½ cup small diced green bell pepper
  • 5 cloves garlic, roughly minced and 5 whole cloves for finish
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • ⅔ cups grated smoked cheddar
  • ⅔ cup Monterey jack grated cheese
  • ⅔ cup mild cheddar
  • ⅓ cup tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon freshly minced parsley
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • ⅓ cup chicken stock
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 16 ounces store-bought marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoons mushroom salt


1.    Preheat oven to 400 degrees

2.   In mixing bowl, combine 3 grates cheeses and mix evenly

3.   In medium high large skillet bring olive oil to heat

4.   Add onion, carrot, bell pepper, sausage, roasted garlic, dried oregano, and basil

5.    When vegetables caramelized, tomato paste, chicken stock and ½ cup all 3 cheeses’ mixture to sauce, reduce heat to simmer

6.   In separate skillet, bring olive oil to medium heat and add ground turkey, large pinch of salt, large pinch of pepper and parsley

7.   When turkey browns, add marinara sauce and bring to simmer for 5 minutes then add to larger skillet with sauce mixture

8.   When skillets combine, add more 5 roasted garlic cloves

And then...

1.   In deep baking dish make an even layer of sauce/turkey mix, about ½ inch thick

2.   Sprinkle ⅓ cheese mixture evenly on top

3.   Make a single layered blanket of lasagna sheets

4.   Repeat assembly steps 1-3 once more

5.   Repeat steps 1 and 2

6.   Bake for 8-10 minutes and let sit for 15 minutes
