Any kind of light, cool food helps balance the Pitta dosha. Vegetables like carrots, asparagus, bitter leafy greens, fennel, cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower; Brussels sprouts, green beans and bitter gourd (in very small quantities) are especially beneficial. These vegetables are best prepared simply, or when combined with beans, grains and with spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cardamom and fennel.
