Summer’s here and it goes without question that you are sweating more than usual. Sweating isn’t just limited to your armpits, but also your feet, which may be secretly turning them into a stink bomb.
The millions of bacteria that thrive on your skin and in your shoes happily feed on all the extra sweat, producing acid byproducts that can reek like a week old garbage. However, you can keep your feet dry and clean and get rid of that stench by using a few natural products at home. One such quick and easy remedy to beat those smelly feet can be made by using sage and rosemary.
Sage & Rosemary For Foot Odor
Armed with astringent and antimicrobial properties, sage can fight the bacteria that cause your feet to stink. The leaves also contain tannic acid, which keeps the feet dry and reduces sweating. While a literary reference to rosemary’s memory-boosting properties has been quoted by Ophelia in Hamlet, this herb is also well-regarded for its antibacterial and antifungal properties that are useful in curtailing bacterial growth.
How To Use Them
- Make a DIY foot soak at home by adding 2tsp of each herb to a foot basin filled with boiling water. Let them steep and wait until the water is cool enough (but warm) to put your feet in. Soak for 20 minutes twice daily to get rid of foot odor.
- You can also add eight to 10 drops of sage and rosemary essential oil to the foot soak.
- Alternatively, sprinkle a few drops of these essential oils in your shoes and socks to be stink-free.
