While PMS itself is difficult to handle, menstrual cramps and hormonal headaches make 85 percent of women miserable every month. Though many women resort to over-the-counter painkillers to prevent the pain from interfering with their daily activities, there are several home remedies that can curb it in minutes. One such natural pain-reliever is calendula.
Why Is It So Effective?
An essential oil extracted from marigold petals, calendula oil is rich in natural muscle-relaxing and anti-inflammatory compounds that are readily absorbed by the skin and curtail the pain effectively. They also relax the uterine muscle, increasing blood flow and oxygen to the uterus, reducing pain in the process.
How To Use It
- Take three to four drops of pure calendula oil and gently massage your belly with it.
- Or brew a soothing tea by steeping 10 to 15 marigold petals in a cup of water for 10 minutes. Strain and drink warm.
