Having a hard time getting the kids to eat their vegetables? Or maybe even an adult or two? Here are some tips:

  • If they don’t like to eat them, have them drink them. Pour some vegetable juice over ice and add a straw, a cocktail umbrella or a stick of celery. They may not get quite as much fiber in liquid form, but drinking their vegetables is better than not getting any at all.
  • Try serving raw vegetables with some ranch dressing to dip them in. Combine a bag of baby carrots with some cut up red and yellow peppers and some cucumber. Arrange them on a plate with a little bit of dressing on the side.
  • Be creative: Cut different shapes out of the vegetables to make them even more pleasing to the eye.
  • If all else fails, hide the vegetables in other food. Mash carrots with potatoes. Make sweet potato French fries. Cover broccoli with tomato sauce or cheese. Think of a dish your kids love, and sneak a little bit of vegetable in there.
