Q: Do you have recommendations for treating a yeast infection for my baby girl other than using the typically prescribed anti-yeast and anti-fungal creams like nystatin or miconazol?
A: If this is thrush, I would consider acidophilus for the baby and also look into gentian violet, which I have seen many moms use with great success. Keep in mind that with thrush, both mom and baby need treatment if you are breastfeeding. Other considerations would be dietary. Reducing the foods that feed yeast, such as simple sugars and carbohydrates, would also be advisable. Check with a holistic nutritionist or other provider for some additional guidance.
