Dealing With An Ingrowth: When Hair Down There Gives You A Scare

by Trina Remedios

You can choose to trim, shave or wax your bush; either way, be prepared for some repercussions if you choose to irritate this sensitive area. One such wrong turn leads you to pesky ingrowth, and frankly speaking, my dear, there's nothing quite as unnerving as a sore spot on your hoo-ha.

How To Identify Ingrown Hair
Here's what's happened. Your hair has curled and is growing back into the skin, and unfortunately, this is a recurrent feature among those who shave as the strands don't get yanked out from the roots. In terms of appearance, it looks much like an angry pimple, sometimes filled with pus, and red and fiery in appearance. The skin around an ingrowth may feel itchy, painful, or irritated.

Ingredients In A Home Remedy For Pubic Hair Ingrowth:

  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 1tsp ground oatmeal
  • 1tbsp water

You want to make a gentle scrub that will help the healing process while eliminating the toxins. All you have to do is mix the above ingredients together to make a paste. Now, the application is key. With the lightest touch of hand, apply it to the area and around, and make tiny circular rings for 10-15 seconds. Then, just leave it there for three to five minutes. Rinse with water and pat dry with a tissue. Use the scrub at least twice a day, every day and then follow it up with a medicated powder, if the ingrowth is really bad (pus-filled).

Why Exfoliate?
Using a scrub will help loosen the ingrowth and also get rid of the infected skin build-up around the sore spot. As for the ingredients, make note that baking soda helps reduce inflammation and redness, and will relieve that itching sensation. On the other hand, oatmeal soothes irritated skin and gets rid of dead cells. Together, they make for a potent solution to take care of that pubic hair ingrowth.
