Everywhere we look, we see red. Perhaps it's got a lot to do with the fact that it's the awards season; and of course, American #HeartMonth. Bringing the two together, we decided to pick our favorite 'Red' red carpet looks, sported by the A-listers over the last decade.
Take cue from these gorgeous styles to #GoWearRed this season, because Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Winslet, Nina Dobrev, Dakota Johnson, and Sofia Vergara are giving us some serious closet envy.
Jennifer Lawrence, Golden Globes 2015
Not the first we've spotted on her, JLaw pulled a scarlet siren back in 2011 with a Calvin Klein dress at the Oscars, and then yet another one in 2013 at the Golden Globes with a couture gown by Dior. But, the winner indubitably would have to be this cut-out dress the blonde beauty wore last year, which brought together the trendy crop top and glamorous red carpet gown in one silhouette, courtesy Dior, of course. Want to know how to seal the deal on a bright red number? Do it like Jennifer, we say. A simple red lip and diamond choker is perfect (FYI, Lawrence wore a 165 carat sparkler by Chopard).
Dakota Johnson, Oscars 2015
50 shades of feminine, Ms Johnson—that's exactly why this Saint Laurent gown put her in the 'Best Dressed list' last year. The one-shoulder column dress that runs into a deep back, the embellished drama on a monotone silhouette, the flirty neckline, and of course, that peek-a-boo thigh slit, all came together for Dakota at the Oscars 2015. Diamond earrings and rings by Forevermark, and a statement clutch and shoes by Bally made for the perfect finishing touches. Also, normally we don't approve of the ponytail on the red carpet, but Dakota's pulled-back locks were the perfect way to show-off that neckline and back.
Nina Dobrev, Emmy Awards 2011
From her lovable girl-next-door persona to the diva she is today, there’s no denying that Nina Dobrev is the prefect embodiment of style and sass! And, this gorgeous Donna Karan gown is exactly that—the prefect combination of sassy and sexy. The mermaid silhouette hugs her perfect figure, and the silver Judith Leiber clutch with the double deck Neil Lane diamond necklace help tie the look together. If you've got the booty to fill out a dress like this, by all means, make the most of the dramatic hemline and wear some killer heels (Nina wore Brian Atwood's) so that it cascades gloriously.
Kate Winslet, Emmy Awards 2011
Yes, about 10 celebs wore red gowns at this awards show, and yet, Kate proved to be a frontrunner despite the cap-sleeves (not a fan) on her Elie Saab gown. Why? Well, Winslet just makes it work. The gown is modest around the shoulders, and yet so bold with it's plunging neckline; structured on the top, and yet flowy and feminine with its train. And as much as we loved her gold Roger Vivier clutch (could do with or without), it was the diamond cuff and string earrings that really sealed the deal for us.
Sofia Vergara, Screen Actors Guild Awards 2015
Needless to say, Sofia's diamond engagement ring (guessed to be about 7 carat) had everyone talking at the awards, just as much as her Donna Karan Atelier dress. The neckline is similar to the one spotted on Dakota at the Oscars in the same year, but the sheer panels on a corset top which preceeded the flowy silhouette is what made this gown stand out. Hugging Vergara's hourgllass figure in all the right places, we think husband Joe Manganiello did a fine job of picking out the perfect dress for her.
