I won't lie, while I'll be happy to embrace my aging body in due time, the thought of sagging breasts at 28 years of age is among one of my worst nightmares. And unfortunately, working out heavy and steady on cardio machines proves to be one of the key reasons my boobs have begun to gravitate towards the floor.
In a bid to find a sports bra that only gives me good support, but offers a little "umph" in terms of comfort and lift, I've been all over the internet in search of that miracle bra that will be the solution to my problems. Before I show you what I've found, here's a checklist to help you find your match:

||Hiking and cycling
||Running and plyometrics
What's Your Type?
- Compression Bra: It's best-suited for low- and medium-impact workouts. These bras have a snug fit, where the bra compresses the breasts to the body. They do not have separate cups built into the material and that helps them restrict movement and offer support by, well, compressing the breasts in place.
- Encapsulated Bra: This bra is ideal for yoga or strength training, and other low-impact activities. They are designed to support each breast in an individual cup. There's no holding you down with these bras as they welcome the natural shape of the breasts, much like regular bras do, only with some added support.
- Compression + Encapsulated Bras: These bras are built for high-impact workouts. They combine the best of both to provide comfort and support when you're engaging in high intensity training.
Based on the above, here are a variety of styles I found that have gotten great reviews and are built for different shapes and sizes:
Athleta Full Focus Bra
This compression bra is built for low-to-medium activity. Without underwires, the breathable and moisture-wicking material prevents chaffing and can practically be lived-in by yogis and those who get their fitness fix by simply walking around the park. The X-back straps hold your ta-tas in place and the full focus front keeps your boobs centered. At $44, this one is great for A and B cups.
Champion Spot Comfort
With C and D cups bouncing in high-speed during a high-impact workout, the whole experience can be painful and make you feel self-conscious. That's why many seem to love the Champion Spot Comfort which has separate cups to help you go up a size with ease. The leotard back with adjustable gel-cushioned straps provide a dream fit that won't have the bra digging into your shoulders and sides. The Champion Spot Comfort Full-Support Sports Bra comes in a sweat-wicking fabric, is wireless, and has a smooth lining that won't show up from under your Tee. At $48, this style is available in 12 eye-catching colors.
Moving Comfort's Juno
A compression + encapsulated hybrid designed for heavier set women (D+ cup) allows you take up high-octane workouts and be rest assured your girls will stay firmly in place. The full-coverage unicup offers great support and is lift. The weight of your breasts is carried with ease owing to the racer-back design, which is reinforced with a regular strap so that your bra doesn't rise up from the back. Made from breathable mesh that's moisture-wicking, the bra ranges between $30 and $60 based on size.
Lululemon All Sport Bra
The All Sport Bra is designed to provide support for B and C cups and is ideal for medium-impact workouts. The lycra contains movement, and adapts to the shape of your breasts and back to give you a good fit. This goes a long way in preventing chaffing and the bra feels extremely natural (unlike other sports bras which can sometimes be too snug for comfort). The crossback straps allow for movement and support and at $58, you can wear this one on a regular day, too.
Under Armour Seamless Essential Sports Bra
This compression bra is for size A cups and can be worn all day because its seemless design works wonderfully under snug casuals, too. It provides comfort and support for low to high-impact workouts, and stretches to accomodate those deep inhales to feel like second skin. The wireless alternative wins brownie points for comfort and yes, this one is sweat-wicking and protects against chaffing, too. The Seamless Essential Sports Bra is available for $24.99 in four colors.
