One Of These Senior Dogs Could Be Your Next Pup

by Z Living Editors
In anticipation of Z Living's upcoming original show Finding Fido, where underwater dog photographer Seth Casteel matches families with the perfect pooch, we're finding the cutest pups from shelters across America who are looking for a forever home, and sharing them with you. Keep checking in for more adoptable dogs!

Puppies are cute, but nothing quite matches the sophic calm offered by dogs in their senior years. Senior dogs are typically mellow, affectionate, and good sleepers.

In her article 7 Reasons Why Senior Dogs Make Great Pets, Z Living contributor Debbie Wolfe explains why pups in their senior years are amazing companions for families big and small. If you're ready to invite a senior dog into your home, take a look at these amazing dogs from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. The dogs below are up for adoption.

Are you the one to see them through their golden years?

For The Steady Family In Search Of A Life Long Lap Companion, Meet Pompeii

Pompeii has run around the block a few times, so to speak. When  he was rescued from a high-kill shelter, he wasn’t in the best health. But after some tender loving care, he’s doing great and ready to find a lifelong companion.

Pompeii is a medium to low energy level, he knows some basic commands, and he listens very well. His little bladder is still recovering from the stone surgery, so he will need to go out frequently. Pompeii will be a loving lap companion to a family who has time to care for him.

For The Experienced Owner Looking For A Spirited Playmate, Meet Clarkston

Clarkston is an approximately 90-95 lbs Great Dane lab mix. He is friendly, extra large and goofy, and just wants to play. He needs a strong handler who can help teach him some basic training.

He already knows how to sit. He needs a fenced yard to play in with a minimum 5 1/2 - 6 ft. fence and an active person to help him get the exercise he craves.

For The Guy Or Gal Looking For Lazy Sweetness, Meet Lauralee

Laura Lee is a Southern girl in her middle age, and is likely a mix of dachshund and chihuahua. She is a super calm, sweet, easy dog. While she gets along with other dogs, she prefers to keep to herself. Laura Lee loves to go for walks and is absolutely perfect on a leash.
