- 1/2 tablespoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon ground peanuts
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh tamarind paste (available at Asian grocery stores and online)
- 1 cup water
- Use a mortar and pestle to pound salt, peppercorns, garlic and peanuts into a paste.
- Transfer to a saucepan and add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until thickened.
