It’s time to give your hair some love. Between the weather and hot styling tools, our hair deserves a beauty treatment every now and then. Too lazy to go looking for hair treatments? No sweat, you can scrounge around the house and find natural ingredients that will repair and rejuvenate those over-worked strands.

Try one of the following DIY hair masks using simple ingredients you probably have in your pantry or fridge:

Egg and Honey Mask

You will need:

  • 2 raw eggs
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons of organic honey

  • Break the eggs into a bowl, add the honey, and mix until a creamy texture forms.
  • Massage into the scalp through the roots and make sure to spread evenly to coat the whole head of hair.
  • Let your hair rest for 45 – 50 minutes (you can either use a shower cap to cover your hair, or tie it up).
  • Wash the mask out with lukewarm water using natural shampoo and conditioner. Make sure to get the stickiness out before applying conditioner.

Applying this mask regularly will help bring back the shine to your hair and prevent dandruff. Your hair will also start to feel smooth and healthy.

Egg and Coconut Oil Mask

You will need:

  • 2 raw eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of natural coconut oil

  • Break the eggs into a bowl and whip them. Add the teaspoon of coconut oil and mix to blend both ingredients together.
  • Apply to the scalp first and continue to spread on the strands through the ends.
  • Give yourself a mini massage for 2 minutes.
  • Let your hair rest for 15 – 20 minutes (you can either use a shower cap to cover your hair, or tie it up).
  • Wash the product out with cool to lukewarm water using natural shampoo.

Eggs and coconut oil are natural conditioners that help bring back moisture to your hair and repair dry and damaged strands.

Yogurt Mask

You will need:

  • 1 cup of yogurt

  • Take a cup of yogurt and whip until a creamy texture forms.
  • Start to apply yogurt bit by bit to your scalp and massage evenly through the ends of your hair.
  • Let your hair rest for 25 – 30 minutes (you can either use a shower cap to cover your hair, or tie it up).
  • Hop in the shower and wash hair with lukewarm water using natural shampoo and conditioner.

Yogurt contains beneficial nutrients that can treat the scalp for dandruff. The protein present in yogurt can help facilitate strong hair growth and prevent split ends and hair damage.

Banana Mask

You will need:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

  • Mash the banana and blend until a creamy mixture forms. You want to make sure you break down any and all chunks until there are absolutely no solid pieces of the banana left.
  • Add olive oil and honey, and whip until the ingredients are completely blended together.
  • Massage the mixture into the scalp and coat entire head of hair with the creamy mixture.
  • Let your hair rest for about 5 – 7 minutes (you can either use a shower cap to cover your hair, or tie it up).
  • Do a thorough wash with lukewarm water until you are sure that the mixture is out of your hair. It is optional to use conditioner.

Bananas are rich in potassium and vitamins that boost healthy hair growth. The natural oils present provide moisture to the hair. Using this mask regularly will prevent split ends, dryness, and strengthen the hair.
