Halloween is incomplete without those signature Jack-o-lanterns made out of amber-colored pumpkins. We’ve already given you some novel ideas to cook with pumpkin this season; now learn how to make some cool, low-cost pumpkin-inspired decorations to set the tone for this spooky fest.

Instead of getting all your decorations from the store, try out these easy and beautiful DIY ideas that will give your home that personalized touch.

1. Glass Pumpkin Candle Holder

You Will Need:

  • A glass candle holder in orange, or orange glass paint
  • A paint brush if you are using the orange paint
  • Black glass marker or black stickers
  • A candle

Directions:

  • If your candle holder is not orange, start by painting it orange using the glass paint. To get the most effect out of it, make sure you also paint it from the inside. Leave it overnight to dry completely.
  • Use the black marker to create a scary pair of eyes, nose and mouth on one side of the holder. Alternatively, you can also cut out pieces from the black sticker and paste them on the top.
  • Once the holder is ready, place a candle inside and light it up to see your Halloween candle holder glow.

2. Simple Pumpkin Candle Holder

You Will Need:

  • A pumpkin
  • A paring knife
  • Tea light candles

Directions:

  • Instead of the usual carved Halloween face, use the pumpkin to act as a simple candle holder.
  • Cut off the top of the pumpkin and create a small opening. Make sure it is wide enough for the tea light to be placed inside.
  • Clean out the edges of the top of the pumpkin and gently place the tea light on the top. You can use it as a decorative light piece on the porch.

3. Happy Halloween Pumpkin

You Will Need:

  • A large pumpkin with a stem
  • A carving knife or sharp knife
  • A candle

Directions

  • Chop off the top of the pumpkin but do not discard. Make sure you keep the stem intact.
  • Instead of the face, carve out the words Happy Halloween on the pumpkin.
  • Once done, place the candle inside and close the top.

And here’s another party trick that’s sure to impress and spook everyone around: a super cool ‘smoked’ Jack-o-lantern:
