Here are the spices you could use that will help match your skin complexion:
- Clove: dark reddish brown
- Cocoa powder: medium brown
- Nutmeg: light brown
- Sage: green for red undertones
- Ginger: yellow blue undertones
Now that you know which spices could be used for this recipe, it’s time to start mixing.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of arrowroot powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of bentonite clay
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa powder
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- Pinch to 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
- Pinch to 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
- Pinch to 1/4 teaspoon of ground sage
- 10 drops of vitamin E oil
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the arrowroot and 1/4 teaspoons of cocoa powder, bentonite clay and nutmeg together. Mix thoroughly with a whisk.
- Add the remaining ingredients 1/8 teaspoon at a time until you find the perfect match for your skin tone. Test the color by adding a small portion to your face and adjust the color as needed.
- After you’ve found your match, add 10 drops of vitamin E oil to add moisture to your foundation. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil if you want a thicker foundation.
- Whisk everything together and it is ready to use.
You can store your newly made foundation in a glass container or a powder jar, the choice is entirely up to you. If stored in a cool place, then your foundation should last anywhere from a month to two months, depending on how much you use.
