Well, to be honest, it’s not like it is brand new information, but oranges and their peels have recently been in the news for their multiple beauty benefits; although to be fair, the fruit has always been more famous for its health advantages (vitamins C and A, pectin, calcium, potassium, etc).
This secret weapon can take any beauty and skincare routine to the next level, credit to its multiple vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that help fight acne, remove blackheads, brighten the skin, and iron out wrinkles.
We take you on a rather citrusy journey with these super-simple DIYs, but before we begin, we suggest you get the following recipe pat down, for it will form the base ingredient to many of our recommended home remedies.
1Orange Peel Powder

Wash two oranges with hot water. Make sure they’re unwaxed to avoid chemicals and pesticides. Peel the rind off the oranges; each peel should be about the size of a quarter. Now, bake them in a glass baking pan for 25 minutes at 200°F to dry them out.
If they are still damp after 25 minutes, you can leave them in the oven for an extra five minutes or so. Once the peels are dry, grind them down to a powdery consistency. Strain the powder through a fine-mesh sieve and you’re all done. Make these in bigger batches on the weekend for convenience.
2Orange Spice Body Scrub

In a large bowl, stir together 1/2 cup grapeseed oil, 5 drops sweet orange essential oil and 3 drops clove bud essential oil. Make sure the oils have combined well before you add 1½ cup organic cane sugar.
Stir the mixture until evenly combined. This recipe allows you to add more sugar or essentials oils to achieve the texture and fragrance that you desire.
3Aromatherapy Soak

Soothe anxiety while cleansing the skin by blending 2 tbsp orange peel powder and 10 drops sandalwood essential oil in a running bath. The aromatic soak will leave you feeling calm, while also adding an inherent glow to your complexion.
4Orange Honey Lotion Bars

In a double boiler, melt together 2 oz organic beeswax, 2 oz organic shea butter, and 2 oz organic coconut oil until they make a smooth liquid.
Turn off the heat and then add 1 tbsp olive oil, 1½ tbsp raw honey, and 6 drops organic sweet orange essential oil. Ladle the mixture into molds of your choice and allow it to set (or solidify) on the counter for seven to eight hours.
5Moisturizing Orange Face Mask

Combine 1/2 cup steel-cut oatmeal, the juice from 1 whole orange, 3 tbsp Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp honey and 2 tsp dried orange peel in a small bowl.
Stir until it thoroughly comes together. Spread onto your freshly washed and dried face in an even layer and leave it on for 15-30 minutes, before washing with lukewarm water.
6Yogurt & Orange Face Peel

Mix 2 tsp orange peel powder, 1 tsp organic honey, and 1 tsp yogurt in a small mixing bowl. Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your clean face. Leave it on for 15 minutes or until it dries out. Then, rinse your face gently to clean up.
