When you think of Kate Hudson, a flirty, boho-chic image comes to mind. So it’s only natural that the A-lister prefers natural beauty products. Her go-to brands are The May Lindstrom and Tata Harper. Of course, since she’s a celebrity, she can afford to splurge on the best.

But, there’s no reason why you can’t give yourself the best either. Whip up a beauty storm in your kitchen and give your skin the TLC it needs. And who knows, maybe you could discover your own unique recipes that have the likes of Kate banging down your door. Wishful thinking, but, anything can happen.

“The May Lindstrom mask, serum, mud cleansers—they’re amazing. The dirt cleanser is just so good,” said Hudson, in an interview with Allure.com. Here are some alternate homemade DIYs to mimic some of Kate’s favorite products:

  • DIY Honey Mud Mask/Cleanser
In a bowl, mix together 2tbsp raw honey, 1tsp nutmeg and 1tsp cinnamon to form a paste. Apply to a clean face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Rinse mask off thoroughly and feel that rejuvenated skin. Honey contains natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that reduce swelling and redness, and heal blemishes. Nutmeg is known to help heal acne scars while cinnamon helps to dry out the skin, bringing blood and oxygen to the surface and reducing oiliness. The cinnamon and nutmeg act as great exfoliants, too.
  • DIY Face Serum
In a 1oz amber tinted glass bottle fitted with a glass dropper, add 1 drop rose essential oil, 2 drops sandalwood essential oil, and 2 drops frankincense essential oil; mix well. To that, add 1oz carrier oil (jojoba or avocado oil), mix again and your serum is ready. This is a lightweight solution considering rose oil is quickly absorbed by the skin, does not have a greasy texture and can be used directly or mixed with a cream or lotion. It has antidepressant, antimicrobial, antiseptic and astringent properties.

Follow these simple DIY recipes for a budget-friendly indulgence, and you’ll be amazed by the outcome. Trust us!
