With body image distortion on the rise, celebrities are coming forward with their own personal experiences to inspire a better lifestyle and instill confidence among their generation. The Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale too, has now gone on record with Cosmopolitan, saying “I’ve never really talked about this, but I would go days without eating. Or maybe I’d have some fruit and then go to the gym for three hours. I knew I had a problem…It was a gradual process, but I changed myself”.
Working It Out
Now the actress relies on her daily exercise routine to stay in shape, and steer clear of eating disorders. Running is her go-to workout for weight loss, but she likes to dabble in some hot yoga now and again too. “I like to run and I work out with a great trainer sometimes,” she said in an interview with E! News. Hale says that she can run up to 10 miles, all in a bid to burn calories.
For muscle tone she turns to yoga and bodyweight exercises. “I recently got into hot yoga…which was, up until a few months ago, like, forbidden! I hate the heat, but having to stand still and relax has been really good for me,” she said.
Her favorite yoga poses are the boat pose, which works the abs and the core muscles, and the chaturanga, or the four-limbed staff pose. This asana simultaneously tones the arms and the core muscles. Hale also loves the bridge pose as it gives her the much-desired butt and leg definition.
So the next time you see the actress on the red carpet, feel inspired to lose weight and get fit the right way.
