Sitting down all day can cause you to become lazy and feel lethargic. Get up and get moving to boost blood circulation and get your energy flowing. The more you move the more you will train your mind to stay energized throughout the day.

Try to incorporate 250 extra steps to your daily average and train your mind to move more and keep your energy up.

2. Reach for a carrot

There’s a reason why we’re encouraged to eat more veggies. Vegetables are rich in nutrients that can keep us energized and running all day long.

It is recommended to consume around 10 servings of veggies every day, not only to up our energy levels but to also keep our brains sharp and awake.

3. Stay hydrated

Drinking lots of water throughout the day will keep you hydrated and up your energy levels. Many of us don’t realize that low energy is usually linked to dehydration, so make sure to drink about a third of your body weight in ounces daily.

When staying hydrated, opt to drink water instead of drinks that contain sugar or artificial sweeteners. Additionally, drink most of your water during the day instead of in the evening as you don’t want to keep waking up in the middle of the night.

4. Write down three good things

Take some time out of your day to reflect on three things that went right that day. By practicing gratitude we enforce more positivity into our lives and keep our spirits and our energy lifted.

We’re all surrounded by some form of stress and allowing stress to take over is the number one culprit that leads to low energy levels in our body. By focusing on the good, we avoid releasing stress hormones and keep our energy up in the process.

5. Increase your fiber intake

Eating high fiber foods allows for energy to be released in a more sustainable way throughout the day as your food is digested at a slower rate. Avoid eating sugary and processed foods that will only lead you to come crashing down in the middle of the afternoon.

Eating foods that are rich in fiber such as broccoli and lentils is not only healthier for you but will also promote better sleep, improving your energy in the process.

Say No to Coffee

The next time you’re feeling low, don’t reach for the coffee and take a generous sip of water instead. Or you can go for a quick walk, grab a carrot and try many other healthier alternatives to keep your energy up during the day.
