There’s a new buzzword on Instagram that every gluten-loving lassie is chirping about. The hashtag—#GirlsWithGluten—has started trending on social media, and there might be a good reason behind it.
The internet movement supports the consumption of every kind of food, including gluten-rich food, which has been demonized by the wave of gluten-free obsession sweeping the nation. (Psst…We’ve already established the fact that a gluten-free diet is best suited to those with gluten-intolerance and those suffering from celiac disease. It shouldn’t merely be adopted as a tool for weight-loss.) So don’t look surprised if you catch a photo of your favorite actress indulging in a slice of pizza, or digging into a cheeseburger.
The movement was initiated by the Instagram account @GirlsWithGluten, which featured images of celebrities eating their gluten happily. Soon after, hundreds of folks started posting their pizza, bread, cake and burger pictures, tagging #GirlsWithGluten.

The reason behind this buzz is to point out how people are wrongly judging this diet to have exaggerated results, including weight loss. Gluten is a real concern only for people suffering from celiac disease and having gluten sensitivities. However, over the years, it moved from being simply a life-sustaining diet to being a fad diet.
Additionally, with celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow going gluten-free too, its popularity has grown extensively, and suddenly everyone is experimenting with it even though they aren’t sensitive to gluten.
Today, there is a whole market of gluten-free products that are quickly assumed to be healthy. But are they really beneficial for you? Should you be going gluten-free? Read this before you make the switch.
