An autoimmune condition characterized by skin inflammation and red lesions with silvery white scales, psoriasis isn’t completely curable. However, the right amount of care, appropriate diet and lifestyle choices, can keep it under control.

While the use of herbs in treating psoriasis has not been explored much due to its autoimmune nature, certain herbs can help soothe the symptoms and manage the condition better.

A popular herb in Eastern medicine, skullcap, also known as hunag qin, can be an effective remedy to ease the pain and irritation caused by your psoriasis flare-ups.

How It Works
Blessed with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, skullcap can reduce swelling, inflammation, and itching caused by psoriasis. The medicinal power mainly lies in the root of the plant which holds three active compounds—baicalin, baicalein, and wogonin. These three flavonoids exhibit potent antioxidant power that helps in reducing skin damage and preventing inflammation.

How To Use It

  • Add two cups of boiling milk to 1tsp powdered skullcap and steep for 10 minutes. Drink once every few hours for better results. You can also add some honey for flavor.
