While we are familiar with term ‘piles’, most of us do not know what the condition actually is. Piles or hemorrhoids appear when the veins around the anus get inflamed and start to bleed. It can occur either externally or internally.
Internal piles may get aggravated and bleeding could start whenever pressure is applied while passing stools. While external piles do not bleed, they might also be painful.
Constipation and obesity are the major reasons that cause piles. Others include standing or sitting for long hours, heredity, weakening of body tissues and mental stress. Weight gain during pregnancy can also aggravate piles.

Turmeric
Turmeric: Known for its antiseptic properties, turmeric can help heal the area affected by piles. Take a teaspoon of turmeric powder and add ¼ tsp mustard oil and two to three drops of onion juice to it. Mix well to make a smooth paste. Apply this directly on the affected areas once at night to heal the wound and relieve the inflamed veins.
Onion
Onion: The anti-inflammatory properties of onion can reduce inflammation and swelling of the piles. Take a slice of onion and mix it with two teaspoons of honey. Eat this twice a day to relieve pain and prevent bleeding.
Bitter Melon
Bitter Melon: Bitter melon is a blood purifier that helps reduce inflammation. Add three teaspoons of bitter melon juice to a glassful of buttermilk and have it on an empty stomach each morning. Do this for 30 days to get rid of piles.
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe Vera Gel: The cooling effect of aloe vera gel soothes pain, reduces inflammation and speeds up healing of piles. Apply it generously over the affected area to soothe and heal the piles.
Warm Water Bath
Warm Water Bath: A warm water bath can offer comfort and soothe the nerves, thus preventing it from getting inflamed while passing stools. Sit in a warm bath two to three times a day for 10-15 minutes.
