Q: When should I start giving my baby a bath?
A: Babies can start baths once their umbilical cord stump is healed. Simple sponge baths are all a baby needs, although many enjoy the warm water. Be sure not to overdo it though, as baby’s skin can dry out quickly – once or twice a week is plenty for most newborns. As for the bath itself, there are a number of safe bathing options for baby – from small-sized tubs to baby slings. Be sure to learn about the materials used in producing the tubs so that you can reduce your baby’s exposure to BPA and Phthalates, among other potentially dangerous chemicals.
