1. Find a Doctor and See Him/Her Consistently
When choosing a doctor, make sure to choose one that you are comfortable with, so that you would be able to openly discuss all aspects of your health, whether it’s your mental state or sexual functioning.
Men have a tendency to under exaggerate health complications, which is why it’s always safe to remember that just because you don’t feel pain doesn’t mean your health is in tip-top shape. Don’t ignore signs like black stools or chest aches and make sure to speak to your doctor.
2. Spend More Time Looking in the Mirror
Although this may sound like something a woman tends to do, there are some benefits in taking the time to stare at yourself in the mirror when you get out of the shower.
When men look in the mirror, they tend to only focus on one thing at a time. For example, men may only look at their face when they’re shaving or their armpits while they are applying deodorant.
Women, on the other hand, tend to perform a longer scan in the mirror and are more apt to noticing abnormalities like new moles or growths. Taking more time to look over the whole body can be beneficial for men in preventing possible health complications.
3. Check Male Genitalia on a Consistent Basis
Just like it’s important for individuals to check their skin on a consistent basis for new moles or growths, men should also pay attention to their genitalia.
Every man has lumps and bumps down there, so it’s imperative to get familiar with those in order to notice changes and help diagnose a problem like testicular cancer in its early stages.
Make sure to visit your doctor frequently and discuss any changes in your health or abnormalities you observe.
