Yoga Poses for PCOS

A condition that can highly compromise fertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, largely known as PCOS, is characterized by small fluid-filled sacs in the ovaries. While the main cause of PCOS has been attributed to hormonal disturbances, experts argue over one specific cause.

Women who suffer from PCOS produce a surplus of male hormones, which can result in excessive growth of body hair, acne, irregular menstrual cycle, an increased propensity of weight gain and also infertility. The hormonal changes in a PCOS patient are also known to affect the metabolism of insulin in the body, which can lead to insulin resistance. This in turn increases the risk of metabolic disorders such as diabetes and heart diseases.

Yoga regulates the excess production of male hormones and modifies glandular functions, which improves the efficacy of endocrine system. This mind body technique can also have positive effects on stress levels, which is a primary concern in PCOS.

Here are five yoga poses that can help you fight PCOS and manage it effectively.
