If you’re looking for some cardio fitspiration, take cue from Karlie Kloss, Beth Behrs, Heidi Klum and Ellie Goulding who love to get in a good run to rev up their heart rate and torch the calories. But, if strength and endurance training is on the agenda, perhaps take a look at David Beckham, Shay Mitchell and Troian Bellisario, who are our fitness stars of the day.

They teach a novel lesson in strength training where they illustrate how it’s not just about lifting heavy weights and doing super-sets.

For example, Beckham has been working his upper body by adopting the new-age battle ropes routine which really engages your your arms, pecs, shoulders and back. The workout involves slamming, dragging, and creating waves with ropes that are centrally anchored a few feet away to a support bar. The more the distance, the harder it is to create motion. Make note that posture and core stability are of utmost importance with this workout. Needless to say, if you have injuries, muscle stress or spasms in these areas, you’re not ready for battle.

Another alternative form of strength training is boxing, and like a lot of other celebrities, Shay Mitchell too, rolls with the punches to stay fit. She flashes her new custom pair of jazzy boxing gloves and really knocks it out of the ring with her workout video. “I may or may not have eaten 4 bagels this morning, but this sweat session helped,” posted the Pretty Little Liars star.

Joining her is co-star Troian Bellisario who shared a beautiful snapshot of herself doing some aerial yoga. A combination of traditional yoga asanas, acrobatics, and dance postures, it makes extensive use of a fabric hammock, to put an edgy spin on an old-time practice. The prop helps you strike dynamic yoga poses that further refine and advance your practice, both on and off the ground.

A piece of advise: Supplement your strength training routine with a protein-rich diet full of lean meats, eggs, poultry and seafood. The amino acids present in protein help build muscle cells and tissue.
