Researchers now say that the frequency with which you weigh yourself has a strong link to the amount of weight you actually lose—the more you get on the scale, the more you’ll shed the pounds.
For the study, researchers analyzed 2,838 weight measurements from 40 overweight individuals who wanted to lose weight.
It revealed that the more weight those on a diet lost, the more conscious they were about weighing themselves at shorter intervals. If they didn’t check their weight for a week, they would gain it all back.
This habit forms a vicious cycle as those who weren’t quite as serious about losing weight, wouldn’t weigh themselves quite as often, leading to yo-yo dieting without desired results.
