Is there anything more classic on a warm summer day than a scoop of chocolate ice cream? This no-churn recipe for chocolate ice cream will allow you to create your favorite frozen treat without an ice cream maker.
No-churn ice cream can be a life-saver when you want to make your own ice cream at home but don’t own an ice cream maker. Many no-churn recipes rely on sweetened condensed milk and heavy cream to create the classic ice cream consistency, and this recipe is no exception. To make this ice cream chocolate-flavored, we also use cocoa powder.
Making your own ice cream means you can stir in any extra ingredients that you like, such as mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, nuts, crumbled cookies, and so much more.
You can also make your chocolate ice cream as rich in chocolate flavor as you want. Better yet, add a dash of your favorite mint extract for a mint ‘n’ chip touch or a dash of almond extract for a lovely chocolate and almond combo. The possibilities are endless!

Ingredients
- 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk very cold
- 3/4 cup quality cocoa powder sifted
- 2 cups heavy cream very cold
Instructions
- To a large bowl, add the sweetened condensed milk and the cocoa powder. Whisk together until the two are combined and there's no lumps.
- Add the heavy cream, then turn on a hand mixer on low speed and beat the mixture until it begins to thicken. Raise the speed to medium and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
- Distribute the mixture into a loaf pan, then cover with a sheet of plastic wrap, placing the plastic directly on the ice cream (this will prevent ice crystals from forming). Freeze for 6 hours or overnight.
