Frozen Yogurt Recipe | A “Berry” Tasty Summer Treat

berry frozen yogurt in a bowl

This frozen yogurt recipe is a creamy, cool dessert that will make hot summer days just a little more bearable. Made with fresh berries, this sweet and tart frozen yogurt will be a favorite recipe during the warm season.

In general, frozen yogurt is a healthier alternative to our other favorite cool treat — ice cream. Frozen yogurt is lower in fat than ice cream and a great source of probiotics (live bacteria that aids digestion).

This berry frozen yogurt is also high in antioxidants because of the medley of berries that are used to make it. Most importantly, it’s a delicious summertime treat that’s easy to prepare and even easier to eat.

If you have an ice cream maker, you can make the frozen yogurt in your machine. Otherwise, you can simply use a food processor or blender to purée and combine your ingredients, then freeze until ready to serve.

    1. Combine berries, sugar and lemon juice in a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. Add yogurt and continue to pulse until mixture is blended and smooth.
    2. Freeze the mixture in a metal pan for at least six hours. Once fully frozen, break into chunks and reprocess in small batches until it has the smooth texture of frozen yogurt.
    3. Serve immediately, or store in an air-tight container and freeze for an additional hour and a half (if you are seeking the firmer consistency of ice cream).

Note: if you have access to an ice-cream maker, prepare the berry-yogurt blend according to the manufacturer’s directions.
