Witches Brew Recipe (Halloween Punch)

    Cue the spooky music and cackling laugh of a witch because this recipe is about to cast a spell on you! This witches’ brew recipe a.k.a. green-colored punch is a delicious way to add festivity and authenticity to your Halloween party.

    Witches’ brew is supposed to look just like it sounds. It should consist of a big cauldron with green liquid steaming away inside. Images of storybook horror stories should come to mind with a nasty old witch stirring away at her big cauldron of poison.

    The only difference is that this “poison” is really just a delicious concoction of pineapple juice, ginger ale, lime sherbet, and lemon juice. It’s sweet, fizzy, and a total crowd-pleaser.

    To give this bowl of witches’ brew its “steamy” effect, you’ll need to use dry ice. The dry ice is broken into smaller chunks and put at the bottom of a cauldron. Hot water is poured over the dry ice to cause the steaming effect, then a punch bowl is placed on top of the dry ice.

    The witches’ brew drink is made inside this punch bowl so that it doesn’t actually come in direct contact with the dry ice (which can be harmful when swallowed or touched). The dry ice and hot water are replenished as needed to keep the steamy effect going.

    1. Use heavy duty gloves and a mallet to break the dry ice block into big chunks. It's important to use gloves as dry ice can burn your skin. Place some of the dry ice in the bottom of the cauldron, refrigerating the rest while you're not using it.
    2. Pour hot water over the dry ice to create the steam, then place the punch bowl inside the cauldron.
    3. Pour the ginger ale, pineapple juice, and lemon juice into the punch bowl; stir to combine. Add chunks of lime sherbet, then give everything a stir.
    4. Once the sherbet starts to melt a bit, serve the punch with a ladle. Add more dry ice and hot water to the cauldron throughout the party, being careful not to get any dry ice in the punch bowl or serving cups as dry ice can be harmful when swallowed.
