With the fall season taking over, it’s time to take advantage of the cooler climate and plan a little fall getaway to nourish your soul and soak in the beauty of the red and gold hues that come with this season. Whether you decide to make it a quick trip or a week-long vacay, a fall getaway is a must.
Some individuals would argue that fall is one of the best seasons of the year. With cozy temperatures and crackling leaves, it’s the most calming of all seasons, allowing us to relax before the festivities of Thanksgiving and Christmas begin.
Places to Visit During Fall
There’s nothing like heading out to a new place to enjoy this season of pumpkins and cinnamon flavored everything with your friends, family and loved ones.
1. Cape May, New Jersey
If you love butterflies, you’re going to want to visit Cape May. This quaint little beach town is the perfect fall destination where you’ll find butterflies stopping for a break on the beach during their period of migration.
Rent a bike to ride along the coast and don’t forget to enjoy a fun brunch at the Blue Pig Tavern in Congress Hall hotel.
2. Big Sur, California
California has it all, from the mountains to the sea, and although it’s not known for its seasons, the beautiful weather and scenery make it a definite getaway spot to enjoy your vacay.
With amazing views of the coast and exciting hiking trails, there are tons of sightseeing you can do that includes shopping, visiting art galleries and enjoying some good food.
3. Jackson Hole, Wyoming
September and October are the best months to visit Jackson Hole to enjoy everything there is to do in the Tetons.
Take a trip on the Hole Aerial Tram to capture breathtaking views of Snake River Valley, Grand Teton National Park and the Gros Ventre Range that is 4,136 meters above the ground.
4. Sedona, Arizona
If you’re looking for a more relaxing trip, Sedona might be the one for you. Sedona is considered a “spiritual mecca” as it is believed to have the energy to facilitate meditation and healing.
If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, rent a jeep instead and tour the red rocks for an adventure you don’t want to miss out on.
5. San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio is perfect for sightseeing, shopping, great food or just to relax. Bring out your adventurous side by taking a 180-feet underground tour to either witness natural formations or the world’s largest bat colonies in the Bracken Cave.
Don’t forget to take a walk along the River Walk or head out on a sunset cruise to enjoy what the scenery has to offer you.
6. Damariscotta, Maine
We can’t have the fall season without pumpkins, and Damariscotta makes sure of that. From fall activities to amazing scenery that you won’t see anywhere else, Damariscotta is a must on your fall places-to-go list.
Known for its Maine Pumpkinfest and Regatta held on Columbus Day Weekend, indulge in your pumpkin obsession by participating in pumpkin boat races and enjoy live music as you carve out 600-pound pumpkins.
